This week we are beginning our compare and contrast essay. Please write one paragraph telling us about the biggest differences in your life here and your life in your country.
My life in Taiwan was a pretty routine life style. I took the public transportation to work daily. I met almost the same people who were my colleagues every day. It was simple and easy that I did not have to worry too much things for the daily life. At the end, I felt kind of boring as life is routine. On contrast, the life in the United States is full of challenges. Because I live in Livermore, since it is far away to get to the school in San Jose State, that I need to bought a car to commute. I am not used to drive before, neither not familiar the streets in the US, therefore, life is full of challenges for me. These are the biggest differences of my life between Taiwan and US.
There is a big difference between my life in US and one in my home country. I have to live independently. Although I live with my uncle's family but I still take care by myself. In the past, my mom woke me up at the morning. Next, I used to have lunch with my parents. After that, my dad carried me to the nearest bus station. Now, these activities are changed. IN the morning, I get up by the alarm clock. Then I have lunch alone and go to the bus station on foot. My new life is completely opposite. However, I think it is good for my life. So I will grow up in my mind.
The learning is really endless, the living to old the learning to old, in Vietnam I always share something my knowing to students, in contrast, I learn something from my teachers in the United States. This is the biggest difference for my life. There are several different points for living in Vietnam and the United States. One of different points is when I lived in Vietnam, I was always busy for prepared presentation in every night, but in the United States I am usually do homework in the time. Secondly, I taught to my students when I lived in Vietnam, thought, I study English from my teachers in the US. Finally, I was always more together with my colleagues at break times in Vietnam; yet, my classmates and I are usually more together at break times in the US. Above all are different points between in my county and in the US for living, but they are both very interesting for me. I like them so much.
The biggest difference in my life here and my life in my home town is night life. Here, I need to stay at home in the night because there is not too much place can go at night. If there is one, I don’t have any transportation to go there. On the other hand, night life in my home country is very good because there are a lot of snack shops still opened at midnight. I can ride my scooter to go anywhere without any expensive car. I like the life in my home country more than the life here. This was written by Jerry.
I lived in Seoul, Korea. There is a metro. So I can easily go any places in any time. But here in San Jose, It is hard to go some places by public transportation. Besides, it closed too early. So I can't hang out with my friends lately. It's good for me to study, because I always hang out with my friends, so I couldn’t spend time for study. But here in San Jose, there are not many choices for free time, except study. Consequently, I was a flippant person in Korea, but now I became a Four-eyed geek. I have to be a Four-eyed geek, because this is the most important moments for my future.
The biggest difference in my life here is I ditched someone who I don't like; nevertheless, I can’t see whom I miss. When I was in Hong Kong, I visited my parents every weekend. I enjoy spending time with my family even though my brothers and I had a very different working schedule. Now, I can only talk with them by phone call. However I miss them, the only way is see their faces through Internet. Before I came to US, I would meet my friends when I felt boring. But after I left Hong Kong, I feel empty all the time. Anyway, I don't have to see the co-worker who I don't like anymore. I feel happy because every Monday to Friday I study with my lovely classmates and awesome teachers.
I think the most difference is that i always do somethings by myself. When i was in china, i do something with my friends or my brother. And i never cook when i was in chna, but somethimes i cook for myself. So somethimes i feel lonely. But that why my parents let me go here. I think it can practice myself. I also have to study here, although i have a little homesick. So i need to study hard and go back home as soon as posibiale.
My life in America is not nearly as same as in China. As for me, living in America is healthier than living in China because I have already changed my life style and quit some bad habits which caused me depraved and always feel tired in China. In my college years, I did nothing but fool around from day till night and indulging in the colorful life in that fashionable city, Shanghai. In addition, I usually play with my friends in various styles bars have a good time at night, drunk until midnight and get up at next day’s noon. Clearly, it is necessary to have a healthy lifestyle in America. Fortunately, I have lay off smoking successfully after came to America. I believe that it is healthy to do some exercises after I finished my homework or school works because sport can make us robust. So I often play tennis and enjoy myself every weekend with a Germany guy whose skills close to mine. Since I have lay off some my bad habits such as drunk and smoking, I felt energetic and vigorous every day.
Space in Taiwan is much smaller than in the US. It's considerately more convenient and closer to go anywhere in my city. I always ride motorcycle to go to office, go shopping and visit friends by myself. In contrast,I take transportations for long time or ask friends to take me to go where I want in San Jose. In addition , I used to eat outside in Taiwan because it's easier and cheaper to buy meals. However, I eat at home more frequently here.Friends and I cook together. This not only saves money but also learn how to cook Taiwanese foods that I never try before. These experiences in the US are special for me in life.
My life in the U.S and in Beijing where I lived before here are totally different. When I was in Beiing, I often used to go to gym to jog, or play volleyball, but here, I couldn't do that anymore because I am not know where it is. In Beijing, I often used to go to ochestra concert with my wife because my university provides some concert almost everyday for very low price, but here, I don't know where a concert hall is and what is going to be performed. Now, because, I have many spare time, I can spend my time to go to trip with my wife for every weekend, which was not my routine in Beijing. I have really different kind of time here from Beijing.
Now, I don't work in the U.S. I became a students. This is the biggest differences in my life. For instance, I don't have to take terribly crowded train. Japanese commute train in the morning was much crazy, a passenger couldn't move on the train. We often pushed the other one to get on the train, so they were often irritate. It happened only around 8-9 o'clock in the morning, and only in a city, especially Tokyo. On one hand, my commute in here became quite comfortable. I can get to SAL class by only 10 minutes walking. I don't have to push other one, or be pushed by other one any longer. Since I came the U.S, I haven't use an umbrella, the weather is always fine, bright and dry. I prefer to present commute than that I used in Japan. These are one of the biggest differences in my life between Japan and the United States.
the biggest difference between here and my country is nightmarket. there is no nightmarket in USA so I can't buy the food at night. In my country, it is easy to buy the food at midnight. However, when I came here, I can't buy any food at midnight. If I want to eat, I need to cook at midnight. It is not convenient but I need to get used to it. Maybe I can reduce my weigh if I don't eat many trash food.
The biggest difference is that I had a car when I lived in Korea but no car in my life here. A car, just one thing, changed many things in my life. I could go wherever, whenever if I want. That’s why I could hang out with my friends with facility and easily I could go variety places like malls, special parks, famous restaurants, concert halls or beaches. Especially, I love put on high-heeled shoes. Not too much walking so I could wear heels for long times and protect my heels. However, I can’t go easily in here except a car. Furthermore, transportation is more inconvenient in here than Korea. Many stores close earlier and streetlights are darker so those make me fearful. If I want to go somewhere, I have to make plan with my sister or my friend who has a car or take light-rail. I have to go to light-rail station by walk for 30 minutes and if I am missing the rail, I have to wait 30 minutes for next rail. It makes me hard to hang out and I can’t wear high-heeled. If I put on heels with holding heavy things like books, it makes me painful and makes heels dirty, broken easily.
My life in Bangkok was busy life styles. Because there were capital country traffic, noise, many peoples on the street. Similarly, the San Jose doesn’t busy all the time. But there are too far for activity studies, nightclub, shopping. Even though, peoples were less busy then in Bangkok. In contrast, the San Jose doesn’t heat moisture over. I was comfortable to living here. On the other hand, I was home sick some time and I hope to go back my country as soon as possible.
The biggest differences in here and my country is night time’s life. In case of Korea, public traffics are very convenient for me. Most public traffics move until at midnight. I always enjoyed my night time when I stayed in my country. After work, I talked about various stories like school life, dream of future and anxieties with my friends, seniors and juniors during drunk beer or soju(a kind of liquor in Korea). When I got stress from work, I sang at the singing room or I went to baseball stadium. I always went to home almost at midnight. In contrast, I stayed at home many times in USA during my night time. After school, I get on bus in front of library for my home. I turn on my laptop computer unconsciously as soon as I arrive at my home. Then I eat something for dinner. If my teacher gave me some homework, I will do homework. I sometimes chat my friends that stay in Korea. Before I go to bed, I sometimes drink beer.
