Week 7
For several of you, what you heard and read before arriving here has turned out not to be accurate. I'm glad your experiences living here have been positive! For this week, I want you to describe the one or two most important characteristics (for example, honesty, sense of humor, intelligence) a person can have to be successful living and studying in another country.

Being Optimistic and Active
To be successful living and studying in another country, from my stand points, I need to be more optimistic and active in everything. A pessimistic thinking or minds can limit my acts, challenges, even my dream. For my family's successful lifes, I should always think that nothing is impossible for me within God who give me a power over and over. Not only think, but believe.
Then, I also need to be a more active person. Even though I am optimistic, if I don't take a action or keep challenging for my plan, goals, or something like that, my successful life is not going to be achieved by myself. So, I believe that the optimistic mind and active character will make my life successful and best.
You need the personality are independently and willpower, then you could live in another countries and study successfully. Unless the immigrant, it is usually a person live or study abroad alone. Should be in the face of the treatment without family first, you should study to live independently, you must learn to take yourself since daily life, for example do washing, cook, buy groceries, drive etc., these things are not easy to do in your image, but you will learn within shortest time. Another, you need strong willpower, when you go abroad and you have to stand emotion lonely and study hard. Especially, on the vacation or night also this kind of mood will be very strong. You must continue advancing to the goal at this time and don't talk about giving up rashly. Once you have two characters of the above, I think perhaps haven’t to very successful live and study in the other cities, but it can help you spending every day easy and happy.
Positivity and volition will help someone who wants to be successful living and studying in another country. If somebody takes up a positive attitude, anybody try to help person. For example, there are two guys who students studying abroad for English. One guy very enthusiastically tries to talk in English even though he doesn’t know enough knowledge. The other guy has much knowledge about English but he is too shy and doesn’t take up a positive attitude like that he just thinking about answer not saying if teacher or friend asks something. Who will be successes in studying English? Surely answer is first person. That is incompletely information which not uses one. Positivity and desire help to change incompletely knowledge to completely one. Furthermore, it is important for you to set your mind on something. ‘Heaven helps those who help themselves.’ whoever helps you if you try to study more and more with a strong will. Don’t be afraid. You should try to take up a positive attitude.
Sincerity and responsibility are two characters that can easily make someone successful living and studying in other country. Sincere and responsible person can easily learn more from others. Because people usually like to show to who has never know about something and he/she is really looking forward to learning, and they also hope the person to be responsible trying to study it. For example, I study English in the class. If I do not understand some word or someplace, at that time, I sincerely ask my teacher or my classmate after trying to practice it, I think my teacher or my classmate will welcome and look forward to showing me. Furthermore, Sincere and responsible person also easily get more faithful and fond from his/her boss. Because the boss know the person usually have responsible to complete anything, so who frequently can believe and entrust to him/her some important works. Therefore, sincerity and responsibility are two characters that do not only easily get faithful and sympathy from other people, but also easily successful living and studying in other country.
There are many conditions for person to be successful and studying in other country. In my opinion, two of them are adaptation and the optimism.
First, adaptation always help an immigrant lives easily. Every day, they get in touch with other people, so they have to know how to develop their social relationship. By that way, they will really become a part of the new society.
Second, if someone feels difficult in adaption, they should be optimistic. There is nothing that somebody can't do. Sometime, they spend a little time in this work, but they can believe that they will succeed.
Thus, living and studying successful in a new country isn't simple, but adaptation and optimism are very helpful in this situation.
Detail goal for future and many experiences is the most important for successful living and studying in another country. Most successful celebrities like William H. Gates or Warren Edward Buffett is having detail goal that come true their dream. Whoever having detail goal know what should I do today. It's precious background for successsful living and studying in another country.
Another of most important is many experiences. A writer who inexperience about love story don't write love story. Experience will make a good idea for successful living and studying in another country.
I can not imagine that I am successful living and studying here because I don’t have any relatives and friends in the U.S so no one can help me out before I have been to America. However, my two good characters help me living here successfully which are independence and sociable. I think I am an independent person. Since I am fifteen year old, I was living and studying alone in the other cities such as Tianjin and Shanghai in order to broad my horizon and train abilities. So this is why I can arrange every thing about my studying and living in an unfamiliar country. In fact, sociable ability played an important role of my life. Fortunately, I meet two Chinese students who have been here almost one year and they were familiar with lots of things such as how to rent a reasonable price apartment which is near our school and how to hunt a good job in Silicon Valley. In addition, I have joined an international group which is belong to the University. The teachers of group are kind heart and they often help me out about living and studying. Therefore, I think the abilities of independence and sociable are very important that can lead me living and studying here successfully.
One of the most important personalities to successful studying and living in another country is independent. People have to picks up everything by themselves and keep the main of "help your-self" all the time. My experience made me realized that no one is more reliable than yourself. Even though your family couldn’t take care of you every moment. In additional, people should independent enough to get over loneliness. You can’t concentrate to study if you always feel sad and moody. Besides, people willing to observe new things of new country are also important. This help them to familiar the environments in order to get what they want more easily. They don't have to spend much time to search something to eat or something to buy after they know what surrounding them.
To live and study in a foreign country successfully need two characteristics. One of them is this loving this country. For example, my friend, Jacqueline, she went to France to study music. She loved there very much, so she studied very well and happy. Another point is that being friendly to your classmates and making friends as more as you can. My younger brother, Paul, he had been studied in Japan for 2 months. He had a lot of friends when he had been studying there. He learned a lot of culture from his friends. He also improved his Japanese. In my opinion, loving the country where you study in and being friendly are most important traits.

I think the first important is friendly to anybody. In a new country I think everything is difficult. And you do everything by yourself. So I should be friend to everybody. Maybe when you have some problems, somebody will help you. You should always feel happy , maybe you will feel homeless.
